Mention: what it is, how it works & who it's for

Brand monitoring and social listening tool, now offered through Agorapulse Listening

Updated · Pricing checked October 2026

Mention was acquired by Agorapulse. As of July 1, 2026 it is no longer sold as a standalone product; its listening features are sold as Agorapulse Listening, and existing customers can keep their current plans.

What is Mention?

Mention is a brand monitoring and social listening tool that tracks what people say about a brand, competitor or topic across social media, news sites, blogs and the wider web. It collects matching mentions in near real time, tags them with sentiment and reach, and turns them into reports. Marketing and communications teams use it to spot conversations worth joining, catch complaints and measure share of voice.

Mention is now owned by Agorapulse, the social media management company. From July 1, 2026, Mention is no longer sold as a separate product. New customers buy the same listening capability as Agorapulse Listening, either as an add-on to Advanced or Tailored Agorapulse plans or as a standalone package through sales. Existing Mention customers on legacy plans such as Company can keep using them, and publishing and inbox features now run through Agorapulse.

Mention FAQ

Is Mention still available?

Mention still works for existing customers, but it stopped being sold as a standalone product on July 1, 2026. Agorapulse, which acquired Mention, now sells the listening features as Agorapulse Listening. Customers on legacy plans such as Company can keep their current subscription, while new buyers go through the Agorapulse sales team.

Is Mention free?

Mention does not offer a free plan. In the past it offered trials and tiered self-serve plans, but those plans are now legacy. New customers get pricing for Agorapulse Listening from sales, either as an add-on to Agorapulse Advanced or Tailored plans or as a separate listening package.

What is Mention used for?

Mention is used to monitor brand mentions, competitor activity and industry topics across social media, news, blogs and the web. Teams use its sentiment data and reports to manage reputation, measure campaigns, track share of voice and find conversations to join. Replies and publishing are handled through Agorapulse.

Mention vs Brand24: what's the difference?

Both tools monitor online mentions with sentiment analysis and reports. Brand24 is still sold on its own with published prices starting at $199 per month billed annually and a 14-day trial. Mention is now part of Agorapulse and sold as Agorapulse Listening through sales, which makes it a better fit for teams already using Agorapulse.

Who owns Mention?

Mention is owned by Agorapulse, a social media management company. After the acquisition, Agorapulse became the official tool for Mention users who want to publish posts and respond to messages, and from July 2026 the listening product is sold under the Agorapulse Listening name.
